Brau Haus: Reviews & Ratings
We started out with the sauerkraut balls which were good. We shared the 10 piece fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, green beans & slaw. 1st time trying the fried chicken and it was delicious. Not greasy at all. Loved the batter. Sat outside on the balcony over looking the creek beautiful!!! Drove 1hr 12min to try their fried chicken and it did not disappoint. Would definitely come back and highly recommend
Chicken was fanatic. Had a very peppery taste which i liked. Gravy on the potatoes was great. Greenbeans were very good as well. Tried their breaded tenderloin which was really thick and hearty compared to most I've had. Would definitely go back. The me owner was super friendly and a pleasure to talk to.
Brau haus is a must try! Their tenderloin chick. Sandwich is always on point. The service is always great. The servers are fast and friendly. The ambiance is great. I would recommend the fried pickles they have a great sauce to go along with it and the crisp of the dough is just perfect. I added pictures of the menu just in case.
We started with the Kraut Balls. I had the Turkey Rachel sandwich with German Potato Salad. My Husband had the Brat Platter. Food was Phenomenal. Our server Lexi was so friendly and helpful. All around awesome experience.
This restaurant is in the historical German influenced town of Oldenburg, Indiana, next door to the city of Batesville. This is my second time dining at the Brau Haus. It's a favorite when my spouse and I visit family in Batesville. We ordered an appetizer of pretzel twists. The pretzels had a rye bread look and were surprisingly very tasty, served with a garlic flavored cheese! I ordered a reuben and my spouse ordered a beef Manhattan. The service was great, the restaurant is quaint, and the food has hit the spot both times. I highly recommend a stop into the Brau Haus!
Of the 3 restaurants in Oldenburg, this is our favorite. The Sauerkraut Balls are amazing! Crunchy on the outside, great on the inside. We ALWAYS start off a meal with this. And, although they're more known for fried chicken, their tenderloin ain't no slouch! Crispy, nicely seasoned breading and meat always taste fresh. No skimping on the toppings on this one, my friends. They drag it through the garden, just like I like! Very friendly staff, and a nice outdoor seating area. There's a reason it's our favorite in Oldenburg. We stop when we're through here, a few times a year!
Erica our hostess was very honest and informative in regards to the menu and local ice cream shop! The cheese burger was fantastic, J.P said that the Ruben was fabulous, 3 got the tenderloin sandwich and absolutely loved it. Bill said the roast beef Manhattan was also really good! Going to go back 4 sure! You can't beat the price either!
I just discovered fried chicken for the first time. Sure, I’ve had KFC, Church’s, and Popeyes. I’ve had it at Hollyhock Hill, Kopper Kettle, and The Eagle. I’ve eaten legs, wings, thighs, and breasts— battered and fried to a crispy golden brown. But last week I had fried chicken at Brau Haus in Oldenburg, Indiana, and it was an entirely new experience. Inside we found room after room of dining space, with a bar running parallel. It was pretty quiet when we arrived, but it picked up through lunch time. Debating the menu amongst ourselves, we finally ordered: Pork Schnitzel Dinner x 2 with Sauerkraut and Potato Pancakes Whole Chicken Hand Cut Pork Tenderloin with Pickle Fries The schnitzel came on a bed of gravy topped with a boiled egg. It was fantastic. For my aunt it was the standout dish. The potato pancakes were small, thin, and crispy— absolutely delicious. The sauerkraut was literally the best I’ve ever had. Black pan scrapings gave it a nice charred accent. The chicken was fried perfectly. The breading was generously salted and peppered, complimenting the juicy meat. Each bite was an explosion of flavor. For me, the chicken was the standout dish. It was the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. I’ve tried many different breaded pork tenderloins over the years and this one would be counted near the top. With the same peppery essence, the breading was quite crunchy. The pork cutlet was twice the size of the bun and I topped it with mayo, lettuce, pickles, and tomato. The pickle fries were an unexpected standout. Dipped in the included chipotle sauce they were sweet, salty, and crunchy. They’re technically a fruit, right? It was an excellent lunch.
